I’m kind of saddened that I have to pack away my Easter decorations, but all good things come to and end, right? As Nora Jones sings sweet tunes in the background, my kiddos’ precious voices can be heard living out their magical imaginations of whimsical creatures like dragons, witches, unicorns and more. Their innocence and joyful laughter always warms my heart and puts a smile on my face. As I’m listening to the fairytales they tell each other, all while Nora captures the moment perfectly, like a soundtrack to their beautiful existence. I am thinking of upcoming holidays and daily festivities, I’m so excited to celebrate with these two stunning souls, who breath a new life into me every single day.
I have a little girl here, who is very excited for her birthday. To say that she’s obsessed with My Little Pony, is the biggest understatement in the history of the world. So of course she wants to have a MLP themed party. I have a specific idea I want to implement, I’m thinking MLP Sleep Under Party. I’ve already ordered a bunch of party supplies and I will be sharing them all, once they arrive, but for now, enjoy this mood board I’ve created for the occasion.
I’m very particular, when it comes to my bedroom. It’s not just a place I lay my head down and hope to catch a few hours of sleep, it’s my sanctuary. A place where I look forward to being in, somewhere I retreat to, when the outside world becomes too hectic and loud, or both. A space of my own. I like to think of it as my very own universe, a universe within another and I travel freely between these multiverse’s.
Creating this universe of mine, takes lots of consideration and planning. I’ve spent years on fine tweaking it and come to terms with, that as long as I’m happy with the bigger points, the smaller ones can change, as I develop and change. Color, material, texture and scents are all major factors to take into consideration, when making any space feel like home.
When it comes to bedlinen, nothing says clean and comfortable quite like rich and light colored cotton. A fresh, but not over powering scented candle can transform your space from one to another. A stark contrast of dark wooden furniture and light colored fabrics, is the perfect match for a hint of a much needed masculine touch. Last but not least, decor. I make it to be a conscious decision when decorating any room, to keep it simple! I only use meaningful items that brings me joy and happiness.
Remember my Shades Of Blue Love Post? I love my little blue Instax Mini and I think I’ve found a way to display some of my favorite shots of the kids. This cherry blossom tree was already in their room. I added a mini wooden peg to each photo and scattered them around amongst the dancing cherry blossoms, that are getting swooped around in the wind.
Never before have entrepreneurs taken their jobs more serious, been willing to sacrifice as much, or taken as many risks as now. I’m talking about Millennial’s parenting style.
We want more for and of our children, then any other generation. Grammar preschool leads to stronger educational foundation, music lessons by the time they can go potty by them selves, college funds, tutors in first grade, etc. Overly ambitious parent is today defined as caring and giving a damn. The world is a much different place, then when we were their age and because of that, our approach to life has aligned with the changes made to our societies.
Parenting has never been more challenging, especially in the wake of the internet. How we teach our kids to protect them selves from potential predators alone, is enough to give a person with “old world” views a migraine.
How do you do it all? Millennial mom-ing, running a business, carpooling, meal planning, date night, social life, soccer practice, parent teacher sessions, etc. I don’t know about you, but I live in the 21 century and that comes with a whole lot of awesome gadgets and tools, that makes my life both easier and fun.
We have had the Amazon Echo since 2016, before my girls could even say Alexa. The journey of having an AI as a personal assistant and seeing little children interact with it, has been more then I could imagine. I use Alexa for anything and everything, from setting kitchen timers, turning on/off lights, TV, arming the house, playing games, shopping list, reminders, listening to music and so much more. To say that it has been a game changer, is an understatement!
Mom-ing is hard, but it doesn’t have to be if you keep up with the newest developments that helps you achieve small wins. You can do it all, you just need an AI sometimes and as for me, I never leave the house without Alexa!
The summer holidays is nearing it’s end and I’m starting to run low on ideas on how to keep the kids busy, but fear not because I always have a few things up my sleeve.
My youngest daughter and her teddy have a very special bond. They have been inseparable since she was a teeny tiny baby. The love she has for that tatty old bear, is beyond what any word could express. An old friend like that should be celebrated and what better way to do that, than with a tea party?
Creative writing requires a few steps to be taken, before an even flow of magic can overrun and be shared with likeminded creatures. A screenplay writer I once knew, used to have the metronome clicking as he was tapping away on the keys. Another writer I know he listens to heavy metal music, whenever he is writing. Each to their own!
For me, having a workspace that is functional and inspirational, is paramount. Achieving such a space however can be tricky, when you work from home. The constant interruptions alone is enough to make me wish I was in outer space, rather then in this space. You can’t give up on your passion though, so how do you make it work? “Be happy with what you have!” That’s what I always tell my girls. An organized and functional workspace goes a long way and helps me achieve peace of mind, everything else just comes natural.
