Inspire Her Mind!

A few months ago, I read a book for my little girls about Amelia Earhart. Ever since that bedtime story, my oldest has been very occupied with equal rights and proving to her self that girls can do anything, just like boys.

Exploring what you are capable of in your formative years, can be great fun and exciting. I see my job here to be guidance. Nudging them ever so gently into the right path and exposing them to new and inspiring experiences through life’s adventures.

Educate a woman and you educate her family.
Educate a girl and you change the future.
– Queen Rania of Jordan –

Inspiring their minds through story telling, embarking on awe-inspiring field trips and mind blowing experiments are just a few tools I carry in my arsenal of how to raise strong willed, open minded, well cultured and intelligent little girls.

Wake Up Buttercup

We all want our days to be productive and successful and I’m here to let you know it is not as hard or daunting as it may seem. It’s actually quite simple, not easy, but simple non the less!

Research shows that your brain has a five-second time limit, when it’s required to make hard decisions. These choices require what’s called, activation energy. This is the minimum quantity of energy you must possess in order to undergo a specific reaction.

So lets take for instance, your alarm goes off and you don’t want to get out of bed. Your brain chooses to press snooze, and with that you have chosen not to enforce your self to tap into your activation energy. By not disciplining your own behavior, you fall short and into bad habits, which is counterproductive.

Now on to the part on how it’s simple to start your day productive. First things first, don’t press snooze! Get up! No matter how tired you are, that feeling will go away after a few minutes. A refreshing morning shower/rinse wakes your body and then caffeine and nutrition for your brain. Last but not least, something for your psyche. Make an upbeat playlist and play it on shuffle, that way you don’t get easily tiered of your favorite tunes.

Here’s my Good Morning Playlist, which also works as my alarm clock. I wake up feeling pumped and excited to embark on a new day. Since I’ve started this new routine, I no longer have to wake my sleepy kiddos either, as they wake up to music they like and get ready for their day. We sing, dance and get ready together for our days all the way to school. That’s what I call an upbeat start to a productive day!

Fashionably Green

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few decades, you know as well as I do that living a greener life is not only healthy for you and the planet, but it’s stylish too. Besides the obvious choices like switching to LED lighting, walk when you can, etc. There’s one point me and my family are working on, recycling! Have a look around you and see what stuff you can make a massive change on in your day to day life!

Are you the type who buys bottled water, then why not filter at home and use a glass bottle instead? Do you often buy new toys for your kids? How about arranging with a group of friends to exchange or borrow toys from each other?

I’ve made a conscious decision to include my children in this new and exciting life change. There are so many clever ways to reuse and recycle our daily items. Our family uses straws a lot, so these stainless steel ones are not only planet and wildlife approved, but family approved as well. Last but not least, kids lunch boxes… Even the sturdiest of plastic lunch boxes break or crack, that’s why I got this rustic looking one. So my six year old daughter doesn’t really care whether her lunch box is rustically trendy, but she does love the three compartments and all the healthy food that goes into it. Win, win!

New Summer Wardrobe

New season calls for a new wardrobe! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, shopping for little girls is so much fun! Summer calls for garden parties, picnics, birthdays, outdoor movie nights, pool parties and so much more. For the cherry on top, the perfect outfit and I got just that.

Polaroids In The Wind

Remember my Shades Of Blue Love Post? I love my little blue Instax Mini and I think I’ve found a way to display some of my favorite shots of the kids. This cherry blossom tree was already in their room. I added a mini wooden peg to each photo and scattered them around amongst the dancing cherry blossoms, that are getting swooped around in the wind.

Outfit Of The Day & A Greener Future

When I was living in Norway, I always hated returning empty bottles of cans. Ugh, the long waiting lanes and there was nothing glamours about trash bags filled with dirty and wet bottles. The smell alone was enough to make me want to throw in the towel.

Those days are long gone and I no longer live in a society, where recycling your empty bottles and cans for pocket change is looked upon as normal. Until recently… No I haven’t moved back to Norway, the Australian government is making an effort to encourage it’s residence to recycle more. Similar to Norway, we now exchange our empty bottles and cans for 10 cents each. It’s not much, but enough to make people think twice about where they throw their garbage.

I have made a conscious decision to become better at recycling, but also to include my kiddos in this process. They learn about the importance of taking care of our planet and they get to keep the change we get for recycling. Win, win!

Favorite Lip Products

Since I work from home, do school run twice a day and have a three year old wrapped around my waist at any given time, it’s safe to say that I choose shortcuts any which way possible. I am the queen of domestic hacks! Makeup however is one thing I like to take my time and apply it properly. On days however where I run behind schedule and don’t have the time to sit at my vanity and play around with cosmetics, my go to is always lip products. Hydrated lips and a hint of color, makes me feel complete enough to venture outdoors with my head up high. Here’s a few of my all time favorite lip balms.

Bored Games

Alright so I know it’s not spelled that way, but that is what I like to call them, because I usually bring them out under extreme circumstances. It’s not often my girls get bored, but this heatwave we have going on right now has given everyone a severe case of cabin fever. When life gives you heatwave, you bake cookies and play board games, or something like that…

Oh, The Places You’ll Go

We all want what’s best for our children, but what does that entitle? What is better for them, does one size fit all and last but not least, how do we achieve it?

We envision different futures for our kiddos, but the basic stuff, the building materials for a strong foundation, that we all agree are only a few simple ingredients. Happiness, good health, a well rounded character and education.

Literacy is one of those topics I find most people don’t see the importance in early enough. In a world where technology plays a bigger role day by day, the “old fashioned” reading a book and writing with a pen seems long forgotten. With automatic correction on any device and urban dictionary, where is our language headed to? Like lemmings running off a cliff?

I started on my children’s home library, when I found out I was pregnant. The joy of holding a physical book, bright pictures, words popping off the pages, far away lands, mystical beings, heroes and villains alike, all that and so much more I get to share with my most precious ones.

We have shared our home library with the children from before they could even walk. Books have always been a family time for us. We read to them while they play quite games, bedtime stories, also they have an easy access to the books they like to read them selves or just flip through the pages and look at the pictures.

Reading to me is happiness in doing a task I enjoy, with the people I love the most. A happy mind makes for a happy soul and body. Silly words, enchanting creature and spellbound stories can teach young minds about the real world in a simpler, safe, loving and more controlled environment. Education to me is the red line that goes through all the ingredients, for a strong life foundation.

Mom-ing With Amazon Alexa

Never before have entrepreneurs taken their jobs more serious, been willing to sacrifice as much, or taken as many risks as now. I’m talking about Millennial’s parenting style.

We want more for and of our children, then any other generation. Grammar preschool leads to stronger educational foundation, music lessons by the time they can go potty by them selves, college funds, tutors in first grade, etc. Overly ambitious parent is today defined as caring and giving a damn. The world is a much different place, then when we were their age and because of that, our approach to life has aligned with the changes made to our societies.

Parenting has never been more challenging, especially in the wake of the internet. How we teach our kids to protect them selves from potential predators alone, is enough to give a person with “old world” views a migraine.

How do you do it all? Millennial mom-ing, running a business, carpooling, meal planning, date night, social life, soccer practice, parent teacher sessions, etc. I don’t know about you, but I live in the 21 century and that comes with a whole lot of awesome gadgets and tools, that makes my life both easier and fun.

We have had the Amazon Echo since 2016, before my girls could even say Alexa. The journey of having an AI as a personal assistant and seeing little children interact with it, has been more then I could imagine. I use Alexa for anything and everything, from setting kitchen timers, turning on/off lights, TV, arming the house, playing games, shopping list, reminders, listening to music and so much more. To say that it has been a game changer, is an understatement!

Mom-ing is hard, but it doesn’t have to be if you keep up with the newest developments that helps you achieve small wins. You can do it all, you just need an AI sometimes and as for me, I never leave the house without Alexa!
